Richard Taylor

MRICS, Commercial Director

As a member of the Royal Institution of Charted Surveyors (RICS), Richard is usually the first point of contact for clients as he oversees the vast majority of project tenders, the financial management of the business and cost control. Richard has a degree in Quantity Surveying and is a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS). Prior to establishing Compass Construction he spent many years working for a blue chip property developer, followed by a regional independent housebuilder.

Richard lives in Surrey with his wife and their four young boys. When he’s not an unpaid taxi service running between sports clubs, he can be found trekking the Surrey Hills, but he says he’s never likely to see fellow Director Steve on a walk as he’s afraid of getting wet! In addition to being a keen outdoor person and playing golf when time permits, Richard and his family are also involved with a local church and various youth work groups.

Steve Cadman

Construction Director

Steve has worked in the construction industry for nearly 30 years and specialises in the design and development of individual private houses and light commercial projects. Whilst Steve is a founder Director of Compass Construction, he’s never happier than when he’s on-site. Over the years, and rising through the ranks, Steve has been a brick-layer, site manager and contracts manager before becoming a Project and Construction Director for a leading firm.

On-site, Steve is known as Mr Fix It, as he’s able to find solutions and ways to overcome any of the inevitable design and technical issues that are associated with any scale of building work.

Married with two young daughters, Steve is a keen cyclist and hill walker, but doesn’t like getting wet so the bike and boots only ever make an appearance on sunny days –
